Arizona High School Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame (AHSACHOF) 

Chartered in 1984 with 32 inductees going back to the 1930's.  The first banquet was held at the Pointe Resort in North Phoenix.  The original display case (built by Earl Putman and his Moon Valley shop classes) was installed in the east end of the Arizona Veteran's Coliseum in 1984.  Inductee's plaques were added to this site until 2004 when space limitations prevented further use.  Bill Gahn and Rich Hoyt moved the display case to the Gila River Arena (the Coyotes venue) at the Westgate shopping area in 2016.  HOF member Bobby Gonzalo connected the AHSACHOF with the City Council of Glendale, AZ and they offered display space in the Glendale owned property.  The plaques from 1984 to the present are on display at Gate 7 on the main concourse in the arena.  Richard Smart and his Cactus High School shop classes built the display boards for the new display at the arena.  Inductions have averaged approximately 5 new coaches per year, although some years had more or less, and there were NO inductees selected during 2021 due to Covid-19.  As of 2023 there have been 220 Arizona high school coaches selected to the AHSACHOF.  Forty-eight Arizona coaches have been inducted into the National High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  Twenty-two Arizona coaches have been honored as their sport Coach of the Year by the National Organization.  Five Arizona coaches have held administrative positions at the National Association level.
