William J. Saunders was a charter member of the Arizona Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  Bill Saunders worked 33 years in Arizona high schools as a football coach.  After stops in Coolidge, Phoenix Union, and Camelback, Saunder's teams won 117 games, lost 91, and had 8 ties.  His football teams won 8 league championships.  Coach Saunders also coached wrestling at Phoenix Union from 1960-63 and his Coyotes of 1961 were the State Champions in 5A.
