Dan Reid

Danny Reid retired in 1996 after serving as head track coach at Payson High School for 13 years and Mayer High School for 5 years.  He was the assistant coach 4 years prior.  He recorded 68 wins with a winning percentage of 67%.  Coach Reid's thin clads won 4 State Class 3A State Titles, 3 State-Runners-Up, and 8 Region Titles.  Coach Reid was named the Arizona Coaches Association Track Coach of the Year in 1990 and the Region Eight Track Coach of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association.  Coach was the president of the Arizona Track Coaches Association in 1995 and 1996, and

Jerry Lee

Coach Jerry Lee led the Benson Bobcats to a whopping 11 small school State 2A Track Championships.  Coach Lee's teams were #1 in 1964, '66', '73, '77, '78, '79, '80, '85, '86, '87, and 1988.  Coach Lee is in an elite class of coaches with more than 10 titles.

Herman "BB" Andrews

Coach Herman Andrews was a phenomenally successful track coach for the Safford Bulldogs for over 20 years.  Coach Andrews teams won 10 3A  Boy's State Championships and 2 Runners-Up.   Coach Andrews' Lady Bulldogs won a remarkable 15 State Championships during the same time span.   BB was also an assistant in other sports and his son is currently a very successful State Champion Coach  in Wrestling at Safford.  Coach Andrews was selected by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association as their 2004 Coach of the Year for Girls Track.  The Track and Field complex at Safford now bears

James "Doc" Van Horne

James "Doc" Van Horne was a charter member of the Arizona Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  Coach Van Horne won 13 state titles at Tucson High School in a career that spanned 1925 to 1959.  Coach Van Horne's Badgers won State Track Titles in 1927,28,36,38,39,40,41,45,46,47,48,49,and 1953.  One of his athletes, Joe Batiste, set the National High School Record for the high hurdles in 1939.

Al Van Hazel

Al Van Hazel (Coach Van) was a charter member of the Arizona Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  Coach Van Hazel's Casa Grande Cougars won the State Track Title 11 times in his 22 years as the head coach.  Seventy-six youngsters under Coach Van Hazel won individual state championship titles.  Four of those 76 athletes became the National Champions in their respective events.   In addition, Coach Van Hazel was the head football coach at Casa Grande for 16 years and his teams won another 3 State Championships.  Coach Van was also inducted into the Arizona Track Coaches Hall of Fame in 1970, th

Robert Robinson

Coach Robinson garnered 3 state titles in Boys' Track at Mesa Mountain View in 1994, 2003, and 2004.  He coached his Toros to 6 other runners-up finishes with the second place trophies in 1997, 98, 99, 2002, 08, and 10.  Coach Robinson was selected by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association as the Coach of the Year for Boys Track in 2008.  Coach Robinson served as the president of the National High School Athletic Coaches Association in 2015.
