Jerry Mullin

Jerry began his remarkable 34 year career at Seton Catholic High School in 1985 and coached various sports at both the JV and varsity levels. In the words of his athletics director, “The one constant has been his head coaching of our softball team.” His teams have played over 750 games, have a winning percentage in excess of 70%, won fourteen Regional Titles and eleven State Championships. He has been named All Region Coach of the Year eight times, was twice named ‘Small Coach of the Year’ of the Year by the Arizona Republic and has been an All-Star head coach three times.

Jeep Ray

Jeep served as an assistant softball coach for two years before accepting the head coaching position at Corona Del Sol High School in 1997. In her 22 year tenure as Corona’s head coach, her teams established a 70% winning percentage, were State Titlists in 2003, State Runner-up in 2006 and 2007 and Region Champs 10 times. She was named State Coach of the Year twice by the Arizona High School Softball Coaches’ Association and Central Region Coach of the Year four times. Jeep served as an All Star game head coach twice and assistant coach four times.

Ed McQuade

Ed began his illustrious 41 year coaching career in Ida Grove, Iowa in 1973. Greenway High School selected him as their head softball coach in 1979 and he served in that position until retirement in 2018. His teams have won a total of 873 games while losing just 290 for a winning percentage of 75%, were region champions an amazing 18 times, state runners-up in 1996 and 2009 and state champions in 1982, 1983, 1992, 1993, and 2008. Ed has been named State Coach of the Year six times and Region Coach of the Year eight times.

Bartt Underwood

Bartt's 24 year head coaching career began in 1991 at Centennial High School and he is still coaching softball at Cactus as of this writing.  Underwood's teams have won 71% of their games over that span with an Arizona State Title in 2010, 5 State Runners-Up, and an amazing 13 region titles.  Coach Underwood served as the Coaches Association All-Star Coach 3 times and the All-Star Assistant Coach twice.  Bartt has been his Region Coach of the Year 13 times, and the West Valley Coach of the Year 4 times.  Coach Underwood is frequently sought out for clinics and personalized lessons.  Coach U

Jeffrey Griffith

Coach Jeffrey Griffith had an incredible record coaching softball at Cactus High School.  His Lady Cobras won six 4A State Championships under his leadership.  His girls were the best in 1987, 1989, 1994, 2003, 2004, and 2006.  Griffith's teams had won titles in 3 different decades.  The Lady Cobras were also the 4A State Runners-Up in 1995 and 2002.

Nancy Funari

Nancy Funari was another outstanding athlete, and then coach.  Funari was a player on 3 State Championship teams in high school.  Coach Funari started the softball program at Carl Hayden High School in 1975 and continued until 2000.  Coach Funari's Lady Falcons were the 5A State Softball Champions in 1976.  Her girls were also the State Runners-Up in 1977 and in Class 4A in 1986.  Coach Funari has also been inducted in the Arizona Softball Association Hall of Fame.

Nancy Ellis

Nancy Ellis was the sixth woman coach in the state of Arizona to be selected to the Hall of Fame.  Nancy was a member of the first Arizona State University Softball team in 1967.  After playing 4 sports and graduating at ASU, Ellis went to California to coach at Orange High School.  Her girls at Orange won the 1970 California softball title.   Shortly after that and still early in her career, Ellis managed to get the Mesa School District to add softball to the AIA girls athletic schedule.  Her first team at Mesa won the first Arizona softball title ever held.  In 1981, Coach Ellis moved ove
