Joe Garcia spent his life teaching and coaching in the Phoenix Union High School District.  He is remembered as a loyal assistant coach at Central High School.  He was involved in the freshmen football and baseball programs.  Coach Garcia was active in the Arizona Coaches Association and all its activities for well over 20 years. 

Coach Ed Anderson led the Scottsdale Coronado Dons to the Class 5A State Championship in football with an exciting victory over Hall of Fame coach Earl Clupper and the South Mountain Rebels 17-12 in 1976.  Coach Anderson started his career with the Chandler Wolves in the mid 1950's and moved to Coronado in 1961.  Anderson was name the Arizona Republic High School Football Coach of the Year in 1976 and 1977.  Ed coached the Arizona Coach's Association All Star Football game in 1973.  To sum up his career, in addition to the 1976 State Title, his teams won 6 City Championships, 5 League Champ

Charlie Esquivel was an outstanding football coach.  Charlie Esquivel was an outstanding golf coach.  The Hall of Fame Committee chose to recognize him in both sports.  Coach Esquivel's Joseph City Wildcats won the 1979 State 1A golf championship without a home golf course.  Esquivel moved on to Holbrook to coach golf towards the end of his career.  In football, Esquivel's Blue Ridge Yellowjackets were the State Runners-Up in 2A in 1975.  Coach Esquivel's Wildcats at Joseph City were undefeated (11-0) State Champions in 1A in 1978.  Charlie coached in the ACA All Star football game, and his

Coach Ben Arredondo's Mesa Jackrabbits beat Sunnyside High School for the 5A State Wrestling Championship in 1977.  That was the first year the AIA held a bracketed state meet.

Coach Darwin Slade was born, lived, and passed away (2009) in Eagar Arizona.  Coach Slade served as a radio operator for the U.S. Navy in WWII.  He graduated from Arizona State University in 1951.  Darwin Slade had short terms with Sunnyslope and McNary, but the major portion of his career of 50+ years was at his beloved Round Valley where he coached the Elks in football as both a head coach and as an assistant.  Coach Slade was a key assistant coach in 5 State Championships and 2 Runners-Up during his long tenure.

Tot Workman coached football primarily at Round Valley High School with stops before at Snowflake and Brigham City, UT.  Coach Workman led his players to State Championships in 1979, 80, and 85.  His teams were runners-up in 1975, and 84.  During one stretch, Round Valley won 100 games in 10 years.  Coach Workman was very active in the Arizona Coaches Association in the 1980's and '90s.  Tot was a leading figure to the creation of the small schools All Star football game(s).  Several of the early years small school All Star contests were played in the Dome in Round Valley.  Many of Tot's pl
