Dale Torrence

After beginning his career in Safford, AZ, Dale Torrence was the head track and cross country coach at West High School in the Phoenix Union District from 1954-75.  Coach Torrence was instrumental in the establishment of prep Cross Country in Arizona and was the first state meet organizer/director. His original Cross Country Meet at Papago Park ballooned into becoming the State Cross Country Track Meet.

Rollie Caldwell

Rollie Caldwell was another multiple sport coach from the early years of high school athletics.

Marlin LeSueur

Marlin LeSueur had a long and successful career at Round Valley High School.  Coach LeSueur's Elks were the 2A 1963 State Champions.  Coach LeSueur also coached the girls later in his career.  The Lady Elks were the State Class 2A Runners-Up in 1981.

Lonnie Foster

Coach Lonnie Foster led his Eloy Santa Cruz Dust Devils to State Football Championships in 1965, 66, and 1969.  Two of those teams were undefeated 12-0.  Coach Foster is on the left in the current picture.  Coach Foster was selected by his peers in the Arizona Coaches Hall of Fame to be inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame in 2016.

Earl Putman

Earl "Tiny" Putman was a highly successful football coach at Moon Valley High School.  Earl was formerly the Treasurer for the HOF Executive Board for years.  Coach Putman was an undefeated state champion at 14-0 in 1982.  His MV Rockets were state runners-up in 1986.  Earl was instrumental in the Arizona Coaches Association and coached as well as administered the summer All-Star games on several occasions.  Coach Putman played center for the Chicago Cardinals (Arizona Cardinals way back when) before he became a high school coach.  Earl's favorite quote, "there's no coaching going on unless
