Steve Hudgens

Steve Hudgens has spent his life in and around education and coaching in the rural areas of Arizona.  Coach Hudgens was the head basketball coach at Morenci and later in Clifton.  Coach Hudgens Morenci teams were the 2A State Champions in 1973 and 1975.  Morenci was also a Runner-Up in 1970.   His 1992 Clifton crew defeated Tucson Greenfield for the 1A State basketball crown.  The 1993 Clifton team was the State Runner-Up to Northwest Christian.  Coach Hudgens spent countless hours in the southeastern area of Arizona supporting the Arizona Coaches Association and administrating the old ACA

Argie Rhymes

Argie Rhymes is one of the few Arizona prep basketball coaches with 600+ victories Only 4 coaches have reached that total (Sam Duane, Gary Ernst, and Dick McConnell--all Hall of Famers) are the others.  Argie was the head coach at Phoenix Union until they closed their doors in 1982.  He moved over to Phoenix Union's Carl Hayden High School and would remain there until 2008 after 30 total years of coaching.  Rhymes coached his Falcons to two Class 4A State Championships (1986-1987), and to two Class 5A State Championships (1993-1997).  Argie's son, nephew, and some of their offspring all con

Sammy Duane

The Duane family has led Tempe Union and Corona del Sol High Schools to decades of excellence in Arizona prep basketball history.  Father and son have led young men in the Tempe District to court excellence for almost 50 years.  Sam Duane Sr.

Sharon Austerman

Coach Sharon Austerman began her unparalled coaching career when she started the volleyball program at Cortez High School in 1969.  She subsequently served as Cortez' head coach for 28 years.  Her teams posted 402 wins for a winning percentage of nearly 75%, qualified for the state tournament 27 times, won the region title 10 times, qualified for the state tournament 17 times, won the state title 3 times and were runners-up once.  Her teams also were invitational tournament champions or runners-up 12 times.  Sharon was named the Skyline Region Coach of the Year 6 times, State Coach of the Y
