Gilbert Padilla finished an outstanding career at Morenci High School as the head wrestling coach in 2006.  His Wildcats were 5 time Class 3A State Wrestling Champions in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2005.  They were the State Runners-Up in 1998, and third at the state meet in 2004.  Coach Padilla has been inducted into the Arizona Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.  Padilla was the National Coach of the Year twice (1996 and 2000), and the ACA Wrestling Coach of the Year 5 times (1999, 2001, 2003, 2005).  Padilla was the head coach of the ACA All Star Wrestling Matches twice, an

Coach Altersitz began his coaching career in Holfbrook as a basketball coach in 1957.  His 1971 Roadrunners won the State Class 3A State Basketball Championship.  Jack Altersitz was one of the pioneers for prep soccer.   Coach Altersitz's Cactus Cobra Boys Soccer Teams won six State Class 4A State Titles in 1990, 91, 92, 96, 02, and 03.  Cactus lost the State Title game in 1993 1-0 to close rival Ironwood High School.  Coach was well liked by his players and treated his teams like "family".    Overall Altersitz's record over his 24 years of coaching was 338-84-15.  Altersitz was chosen the

Coach McBurney is currently serving on the Executive Board of the AHSACHOF. Tim McBurney started teaching and coaching at Tempe High School from 1970 to 2001.  McBurney coached football (4A State Champions in 1996), wrestling, and track (State Runners-up in 1987) for 20 years.  Tim moved on to be the head football coach at the new Chandler school Basha.  The Bears earned a 5A playoff spot every year with a semi-final appearance in 2006.  Coach McBurney served as the football chairman for the Arizona Coaches Association from 1994-99.  He coached the South All-Stars in 1997.  Tim was a cofoun
