Kyle Sawyer

Kyle Sawyer is one of the winningest cross country coaches in Arizona history.  Coach Sawyer won 5A state titles at three different schools.  Sawyer's Westwood Warriors won titles in 1990, 91, 93, 94, 95, and 96.  At Mesa Dobson and Mesa Mountain View Sawyer's teams won in 1997 and 2004.  Sawyer's '92 Westwood team was the Runner-Up.  Sawyer logged an amazing 50 years of coaching with 31 years as a head coach and 29 years as an assistant.  His overall record of 1,086-104 (95%) will probably never be beaten.  Coach Sawyer, along with colleague Nancy Ellis of Dobson High, were finalists in th

Joe Ehlers

Joe Ehlers led the South Mountain Rebels to the 5A State Cross Country Titles in 1970, 72, and 74.  Coach Ehlers moved on to Trevor Browne High School before retirement after 47 years of coaching.  His meet record at South Mountain was an amazing 149-11.  Coach also had three State Runners-Up teams during his tenure.

Glenn Alford

Glenn Alford was the Tempe Buffalos head wrestling coach for 10 years and an assistant an additional 23.  Coach Alford's boy's won the 1980 5A State Title over Tucson Sunnyside by 36.5 points.  Tempe Union was also the State Runner-Up in 1978.  Alford's Buffalos won another State Title and two Runners-Up.  His dual meet record during his head coaching tenure was 99-8-1.  Coach had 14 individual state champions from 1972-1982.  Coach Alford passed away in March of 2023.

Miner Webster

Miner Webster knows how to finish.  He coached his girls' basketball teams to 9 state finals and won 8 of them.  Coach Webster began his career at Gilbert and won state titles in 1991, 92, 94, and 95.  He moved to the new district school Gilbert Highland and placed second in 1998.  Coach Webster finished with 4 state titles in 4 appearances in the 21st century winning it all in 2003, 05, 08, and 09.  Coach Webster was 712-107 (87%) and his girls won 20 division titles over his 26 years as a coach in the Gilbert District.  Coach Webster finished his career with 831 wins to top all coaches in

Tim Sanford

Coach Sanford is currently serving on the Executive Board of the AHSACHOF.  Coach spent 36 years of his life coaching prep football in Arizona.  After stops as an assistant at St.
