Coach Alvin "Chub" Overson won six northern Arizona conference championships and for two years running was undefeated.  His 1949 Redskins team won the conference, regional, Gallup Invitational, and was eliminated in the semi-finals by Tempe.  His overall basketball record was 134-66.  Coach Overson also coached football and his teams were conference champions five times with three undefeated seasons.  His overall football record was 54-24-2.  The picture is St. Johns High School circa 1930.

William "Herk" Mc Dermott coached basketball for 26 years at Kingman, North High School, and East High Schools.  Coach McDermott was always one of the most involved members of the coaches association. Coach McDermott was the secretary-treasurer of the Arizona Coaches Association from 1964-67 and attended the National Coaches Convention in Washington, D.C, in 1967. McDermott coached in the ACA All Star basketball game in 1969.  Herk was the ACA All Star game dedicatee in 1972.   He was most often involved with JV level basketball teams at North, but always pitching in to help the Coaches Ass

Coach Richard "Dick" Imhoff was a 3 sport coach at Gila Bend and Salome High Schools in western Arizona.  At Salome Imhoff's teams won seven division championships.  Coach Imhoff's Salome Frogs were the 1979 football State Runner-Up and the 1980 State Champions.  Coach Imhoff also was a State Runner-Up in boy's basketball in 1985.  Another State Title came in boy's track in 1981.  Imhoff's overall football record was 134-82-3.  Imhoff had coached 24 years in Arizona at the time of his induction. 

John Pavlich coached basketball and football for the Globe Tigers for 20 years. Pavlich also coached at the little logging town McNary in the White Mountains and at Tucson Sunnyside.  Coach Pavlich's football Tigers were the Arizona State Champions in 1953, 1956, 1957, and 1960.  His basketball Tigers were the State Champions in 1960, 1964, and 1967.  John coached the ACA All Star Basketball games in 1954 and 1960.

Coach Bob Ruman worked in the Phoenix Union District beginning in 1947.  Ruman coached football and baseball at Phoenix Union, Camelback and Central High Schools.  His Central Bobcats were the 5A State Champions in 1964. His teams also won 4 division championships. Ruman's peers selected him as the Phoenix Division Coach of the Year in 1967 and 1971.  Coach Ruman was a 3 sport letterman at the University of Arizona in the early 1940's.  He was a third-team All-American in football, second team All-Border Conference in Basketball, and led the Wildcat baseball team in hitting with a .386 batt

Karl Kiefer has long been associated with the highest levels of success in Arizona High School Football.  His 309 wins at one time were #1 in Arizona and still put him in the top 7.  Coach Kiefer won 3 State Championships at Tempe McClintock High School.  He finished his career at the new Tempe Mountain Pointe High School.  Coach Kiefer, in his seventies, continued to help the Pride at MP in the JV and Freshmen programs up until 2012.  Coach Kiefer was even more successful at Track when he moved to Mountain Pointe, the Pride won State 5A Track Titles in 1995, 96, 97, and 2002.  Karl was one

An Arizona product all the way, Hal Eustice was a baseball icon in Southern Arizona for many years.  Coach Eustice graduated from Amphi in Tucson, U of A, minor league baseball for 3 years, and completed a long career with boys and baseball at San Manuel and Tucson Sahuaro.  Hal's Miners at San Manuel won the State Title in 1963, and his Sahuaro Cougars won 3 more State Titles and 2 Runners-Up.  Coach Eustice's teams won 436 games during that time span.  In addition to the Coaches Hall of Fame, Coach Eustice was a member of the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame, and was named his respective a

Walt Beamis was an outstanding football coach for 20 years at Phoenix Christian High School.  His Cougars won back to back State Titles in 1984 and 1985. His Cougars compiled a record of 140-64-4 with 8 Division titles along the way  Coach Beamis was an ACA All-Star Football Coach three times and the ACA Game Dedicatee in 1986.  He was selected the District 8 Coach of the Year in 1974 and 1982.  Walt was selected from District 8 as one of the finalists for the National Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1986.  Beamis' Cougar Track team was the 1974 State Champion.  Coach Beamis passed

Although he coached at Morenci, Casa Grande, and San Manuel, the name Vern Friedli is synonymous with Amphitheater High School.  Coach Vern was the Panthers head football coach for 36 years.  At the time of his retirement (2011-12), Coach Friedli had 331 wins (now 2nd place all time) that has only been exceeded by Paul Moro who won his 332nd game in 2016.  The Panthers were State Champions in 1979, and State Runners-Up in 1990 and 1997 under Friedli.  Friedli coached in 3 ACA All Star Football games.  He was named the Phoenix Press Box Association Coach of the Year in 1979.  Coach Friedli b
