Nancy Funari

Nancy Funari was another outstanding athlete, and then coach.  Funari was a player on 3 State Championship teams in high school.  Coach Funari started the softball program at Carl Hayden High School in 1975 and continued until 2000.  Coach Funari's Lady Falcons were the 5A State Softball Champions in 1976.  Her girls were also the State Runners-Up in 1977 and in Class 4A in 1986.  Coach Funari has also been inducted in the Arizona Softball Association Hall of Fame.

Ron Davini

Ron Davini has had an extraordinary career in baseball as a player and a coach.  Ron played his high school baseball in Anaheim, CA.  He went to Arizona State University, and, as a Sun Devil led his team to the NCAA baseball National Championship in 1967.  Davini was selected as the "Most Valuable Player in the College World Series" and the "College Player of the Year" during that title run.

Ted Blake

Ted Blake had some very good baseball teams at Greenway High School in the Glendale District.  Greenway's Demons won the 1981 and 1991 5A State Baseball Championships.  Two years later, in Class 4A, the Demons went 32-2 and won the State Championship game 20-0 over Flowing Wells.  Coach Blake has been very active in the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association.

Don Kloestreich

Coach Don Kloestreich was the head wrestling coach at Tucson Sunnyside High School back the late 1970's and 1980's.  Coach K's Blue Devils were the symbol of dominance, dynasty, and consistency during that span.  His boys won their first 5A wrestling title in 1979.  After a runner-up finish in 1980, the Blue Devils reeled off 8 consecutive State Champions from 1981 through 1988--and then another runner-up in 1989.  Sunnyside has continued the legacy Coach K had built down through the years.  Kloestreich has 9 total State Championships bearing his name--second only to Dennis Pirch's 10.  Coa

Mike Clark

Mike Clark is currently serving on the AHSACHOF on the Executive Board.  Coach Clark was a symbol of excellence in the 5A division of the East Valley.  His 1987 Dobson team beat a strong Mountain View team for the State Title.  Coach Clark spent many years active in the coaches association, helping and coaching the All-Star games, and running large player clinics through the Marine Corps.  Mike also was instrumental in organizing the Down Under Bowl for seniors playing exhibition All-Star Football games in Australia.  Mike was inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Hall of
