Rollie Caldwell

Rollie Caldwell was another multiple sport coach from the early years of high school athletics. Coach Caldwell was inducted into the Arizona Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame in 1985 and recognized as a talent on all three major boy's sports, football, basketball, and baseball.  Caldwell was well known by his peers in the 1930's and 40's and wore many hats in athletic endeavors.  Much like Mutt Ford, Steve Coutchie, et al, Caldwell never went home after school, he always went to practice.  Many of Caldwell's teams were in the playoffs and his 1945 North Mustangs were the State Runner-Up to Tucson's Badgers (coached by Hall of Famer Bud Doolen) by a mere point 40-39.   Caldwell's career spanned 40 years in the Phoenix Union High School District.
