Ted Fowler

Although he won a 4 year baseball scholarship to the University of Arizona after playing at Phoenix Union, Coach Fowler joined the Naval Reserves and served on the USS Yorktown during the Korean War.  Ted came home and finished his education at Arizona State University.   Fowler coached baseball for over 30 years at Peoria, North, and Mesa High Schools.  Fowler's Peoria Panthers were the 1957 State Champions.  Three years later Coach Fowler led the Phoenix North High School Mustangs to the 1960 State Title with a narrow 6-5 victory over Tucson High School. Fowler was selected to the head ba

Russ Bethel

Russ Bethel was the head baseball coach at Willcox High School in southeastern Arizona.  Coach Bethel's Cowboys were perennial frontrunners for years.  Willcox made five appearances in the State Title game during his tenure.  The Cowboys were back to back State Runners-Up in 1986 and 1987.  Bethel stayed with the boys another ten years and they pulled off a three-peat in 1999, 2000, and 2001.

Charlie Webb

Coach Charlie Webb was the head baseball coach at Phoenix Camelback High School from 1965 to 1986.  His Spartans were Divisional Champions 6 times.  His 1985 Spartans were the State Runner-Up to Tempe Mcclintock.  Webb's final overall record was 299-159. Coach Webb passed away in late January 2024 at the age of 90.

Waldo Dicus

Waldo Dicus was a three major sport coach for Jerome and  Bisbee High Schools back in the 1930's and 1940's.  Coach Dicus' 1947 Bisbee Pumas were the Class 3A State Champions in baseball with a title victory over Tempe Union High School by a score of  2-1.   Warren Stadium, where Bisbee still plays football and baseball, is one of the very oldest continuously played on ball fields in America.   Dicus' 1935 Jerome team was the Northern Conference Champions.  Dicus was back at Bisbee to coach at his alma mater fro 1937 to 1952.  His baseball team was the Southern Conference Champions in 1951.

Paul Reynolds

Paul Reynolds was an outstanding baseball coach and teacher at Snowflake High School in the 1970's and 1980's.  Coach Reynolds led the Snowflake Lobos to 4 appearances in the state finals.  The Lobos were the Class 3A State Champions in 1981 and 1987.  They were the State Runners-Up in 1985 and 1986.  With the addition of the 1970 state title team, Snowflake is one of the very few schools north of the Mogollon Rim to win multiple state titles. Coach Reynolds was also a key assistant coach in many of the glory years of Snowflake's football teams. 

Ron Davini

Ron Davini has had an extraordinary career in baseball as a player and a coach.  Ron played his high school baseball in Anaheim, CA.  He went to Arizona State University, and, as a Sun Devil led his team to the NCAA baseball National Championship in 1967.  Davini was selected as the "Most Valuable Player in the College World Series" and the "College Player of the Year" during that title run.

Ted Blake

Ted Blake had some very good baseball teams at Greenway High School in the Glendale District.  Greenway's Demons won the 1981 and 1991 5A State Baseball Championships.  Two years later, in Class 4A, the Demons went 32-2 and won the State Championship game 20-0 over Flowing Wells.  Coach Blake has been very active in the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association.

Jerry Dawson

Jerry Dawson is a baseball coach's baseball coach.  His record is one many aspire to equal, if possible.  Jerry was the head baseball coach at Scottsdale Chaparral for 37 years when he stepped down in 2010.  Coach Dawson leaves behind a state leading 773 victories against only 301 defeats.  Among those 773 wins are eight 5A State Baseball Championships and two Runners-Up.  Three of Dawson's players have gone all the way to the major leagues;  New York Mets Ike Davis, Chicago White Sox Paul Konerko, and Kansas City Royals Brian Bannister.  Jerry's meticulous grooming of his field is legendar

John Gleeson

John Gleeson has the rare distinction of having two baseball fields that bear his name.  Coach Gleeson led the Salpointe Lancers for most of the 1960's and personally built most of the baseball complex while also developing winning teams.  In 1969 Gleeson moved over to Flowing Wells High School and continued to develop winning teams and putting his "touches" on the Flowing Wells diamond.  His Caballeros were always "in the mix" and formidable opponents.  Coach Gleeson was an ACA All Star baseball coach in 1977 and continued coaching for 32 total years.  Gleeson was inducted into the Pima Co

Cliff Myrick

Cliff Myrick starred for Tucson High School's Badgers baseball team (batting average .533)  when they won the 5A State Title in 1945. Myrick went on to star in American Legion Baseball at the National level before coming back to Tucson to play for Frank Sancet at the University of Arizona.  After graduation, Myrick coached baseball, softball, and volleyball for 27 years at Catalina High School.  Cliff was the Tucson Daily Star's Coach of the Year in 1976.  He coached the ACA South All Star baseball teams in 1969 and 1983.  His overall record was 329-213-14.   Coach Myrick was inducted into
